RSN’s Chief, Rear Admiral Lai Chung Han, Vietnamese Ambassador to Singapore Nguyen Tien Minh, staff of the Vietnamese Embassy in Singapore and officers and sailors of foreign vessels attended the event.
Speaking at the banquet, Ambassador Minh affirmed that the Vietnamese warship’s visit contributes to displaying the close friendship between the two countries in general and between the two navies in particular.
For his part, RSN’s Chief thanked the Vietnam side for sending a naval ship to attend activities during the RSN’s anniversary, stressing that the bilateral defense ties, including naval cooperation, will be promoted in the future.
Leaving Cam Ranh Military Port for Singapore on May 8, Vietnam’s naval ship with 137 officers and sailors joined various activities, including the Singapore International Maritime Review (IMR), the 6th Western Pacific Navy Symposium Multilateral Sea Exercise (WMSX-6), the International Maritime Defense Exhibition Asia 2017 (IMDEX Asia 2017), and others.
The visit also showcased the Vietnam naval force’s goodwill to boost relations with the Singaporean army and navy, join international events held by the RSN, and reinforce and strengthen friendship with the naval forces of ASEAN’s nations and other countries in the region.
