The event was chaired by Lieutenant General Trinh Van Quyet, Deputy Director of the General Department of Political Affairs (GDP), and attended by Chief of the Vietnam Border Guard Command Lt. Gen. Le Duc Thai, among others.

At the handover ceremony, Lt. Gen. Do Danh Vuong handed over the authority of the Secretary of Party Committee and Party work to Lt. Gen. Le Duc Thai, Deputy Secretary of Party Committee and Commander of the Vietnam Border Guard Command; and the authority of the political commissar and political work to Major General Phung Quoc Tuan, Deputy Political Commissar. Gen. Vuong will retire as regulated.

On behalf of the Party Committee and Chain-of-Command of the Vietnam Border Guard Command, Lt. Gen. Le Duc Thai thanked Lt. Gen. Do Danh Vuong for his great contribution and emphasized that in his posts, Gen. Vuong was always dedicated and contributed to the development and key political duty fulfillment of the border guard force.

In their speech, the new secretary of the Party Committee and political commissar stressed that they will continue promoting the spirit of solidarity and unity of the Party Committee and Chain-of-Command, knowledge, and collective strength to build a comprehensively and excellently-strong Party Organization of the Vietnam Border Guard. They will continue to well perform their advisory role for the Central Military Commission and the Ministry of National Defense to build a strong border guard force and play the core role in firmly managing and defending national border security and sovereignty.

In his speech, Gen. Vuong expressed thanks for the thoughtfulness, direction and support of the Central Military Commission, the leadership of the Ministry of National Defense, the GDP, and the Vietnam Border Guard Command during his tenure, contributing to his good duty and authority performance.

Concluding the event, Lt. Gen. Trinh Van Quyet acknowledged and congratulated the Vietnam Border Guard Command on the outcomes in leadership and implementation of Party and political work with Gen. Vuong’s important contribution.

The GDP deputy director asked the Party Committee and Chain-of-Command of the Vietnam Border Guard Command to promote achievements, keep a close watch on situations in the border areas, especially where ethnic minority groups and religious people live, and advise the Central Military Commission and the Ministry of National Defense to build and manage national border sovereignty.

He urged the command to train successors at all levels, observe the Party’s guidelines and State laws, keep good images and virtues of Uncle Ho’s soldiers.

Gen. Quyet also expressed his wish that more border cadres will participate in Party Committees at all levels to effectively build the political system at the grassroots level, thereby consolidating the people’s heart posture and all people’s defense and people’s security disposition in border areas.

At the event, Gen. Quyet signed documents of confirmation of duty and authority handover.
