PANO – The Singaporean naval ship “RSS Endurance 207”, with 220 crew members on board, docked in HCM City Port on March 15th, starting its five-day visit to HCM City.
Representatives from the Vietnamese Naval High Command, HCM City Department of Foreign Affairs, the Department of External Affairs under the Defence Ministry, Military Zone 7’s High Command, HCM City High Command and Singaporean General Consulate in the city were present at the port to welcome the visiting ship, captained by Gerald Heng, Chief of the Singaporean Navy’s Training High Command.
During the visit, the ship’s officers and sailors will lay flower wreaths at the monument of President Ho Chi Minh, pay courtesy visits to leaders of the Municipal People’s Committee, Military Zone 7’s High Command and representatives of Vietnamese Navy’s High Command in the South, as well as visit Naval Region 2’s High Command.
Moreover, the crew members will team with Vietnamese Navy’s forces to practice search and rescue activities, have a friendly volleyball match with local peers and contemplate some beautiful spots in the city.
The visit of “RSS Endurance 207” to HCM City will help boost the friendly ties between Vietnam and Singapore in general and the two navies in particular, and celebrate the 40th anniversary of diplomatic ties between the two countries.
“RSS Endurance 207” is among the most advanced landing ships of the Singaporean Navy. This 141m-long ship with a displacement of 6,000 ton is built by the Singaporean Navy itself.
