President Tran Dai Quang reviewing the guards-of-honor of the Navy
Through a televised program, the President conveyed his New Year wish to troops and people in Truong Sa Lon, Song Tu Tay and Sinh Ton islands, DK1 platform and on-duty naval ships.
The State leader confirmed that the Party and State always acknowledge great contributions of their great contributions to the protection of national sacred sovereignty over its seas and islands.
On behalf of Truong Sa district troops and people, Lieutenant Colonel Do The Tuyen, Commander of Truong Sa Island thanked the Party, State and people for their care for the troops and people, so that they could feel secure to fulfill all assigned missions. He also informed the President about local preparations for the New Year festival, including cultural, music and sport activities.
Meanwhile, Rear Admiral Pham Hoai Nam briefed the State leader on the Service’s outstanding achievements in training, combat readiness, search and rescue and the Service’s tasks for this year.
President Tran Dai Quang asked the Navy to firmly guard national sea and island sovereignty as well as marine-based economy and conduct search and rescue at sea, deserving to be a firm mainstay of the people at sea and islands.
At his meeting with the staff of the Military Region 3 Command, the President described the Military Region 3 as an area of strategic importance to national defense and a gateway to the east, west and south of the Hanoi capital.
He also requested the Command to keep close watch of the situation in the region and be prepared for any complicated cases in waters and border areas, including plots of hostile forces.
Talking with the public security forces of Hai Phong city, the State leader called for a crackdown on gangs and hotbeds of social disorder while effectively fighting economic, corruption, cyber, environment and drug crimes in the locality.
He also visited and presented Tet gifts to families of war heroes and invalids.
