The meeting saw the attendance of senior leaders of the Ministry of National Defense, the General Staff and the General Department of Politics of the Vietnam People’s Army, together with 430 delegates representing over 260,000 Party members of the 60 Party organizations under the Central Military Commission.

At the event, Gen. Ngo Xuan Lich reiterated the major goals of the 11th Military Party Congress, which takes place from September 27 to 30. He affirmed that preparations for the Congress have been closely observed by the Central Military Commission and approved by the Politburo.
The defense minister required all delegates to grasp the significance of the congress while upholding their sense of responsibilities to contribute to the success of the event. The success of the 11th Military Party Congress will importantly contribute to the success of the 13th National Party Congress, he stressed.
During the preparatory session, delegates voted to select the Presidium of the congress, consisting of eight delegates: Party General Secretary and State President Nguyen Phu Trong, Prime Minister Nguyen Xuan Phuc, Defense Minister Gen. Ngo Xuan Lich, Director of the General Department of Politics Gen. Luong Cuong, Chief of the General Staff and Deputy Defense Minister Sr. Lt. Gen. Phan Van Giang, Deputy Defense Minister Sr. Lt. Gen. Nguyen Chi Vinh, Deputy Defense Minister Sr. Lt. Gen. Tran Don, and Deputy Director of the General Department of Politics Sr. Lt. Gen. Nguyen Trong Nghia.

Delegates also selected the Secretariat of the congress with three members and the Board for Verification of Delegates’ Qualities with seven members. They also voted the agenda of the congress and were briefed on opinions and comments on the congress’s documents.
Delegates listened to the whole draft political report of the Central Military Commission that will be delivered at the 11th Military Party Congress.
The official session of the 11th Military Party Congress for the 2020-2025 tenure will begin on September 28 morning.
