Naval Academy opens training course on maritime search and rescue
PANO - The National Training Center on Maritime Search and Rescue under the Naval Academy on July 31 kick-started a training course on maritime search and rescue operations, the 54th of its kind, in Nha Trang city, Khanh Hoa province.
Present at the opening ceremony of the course were Senior Captain Huynh Vinh Tuyen, Deputy Director of the Naval Academy, leaders of some agencies and units, and 30 trainees from search and rescue centers nationwide.
During the one-month course, the trainees will study search and rescue systems of Vietnam and regional countries. They will be also provided with basic knowledge of search and rescue operations, communication system, optimal search methods and search and rescue vehicles.
In addition, they will have chances to develop search and rescue plans and conduct such activities effectively. Moreover, they will be guided to use life-saving appliances, equipped with diving and swimming techniques, as well as first aid skills.
The trainees are hoped to apply what they have acquired during the course to their future duties. These trainees are key forces to reinforce ministries, departments, localities and units to conduct maritime search and rescue operations, helping minimize damage caused by natural disasters and other incidents at sea.
