Since September 2015, Vietnamese officers have completed a 474-hour English training course at the British Council in Ho Chi Minh City. These trainees are the latest of the 153 graduates who have studied in the language-training program sponsored by the UK Ministry of Defense five years ago.
UK Defense Attaché to Vietnam, Colonel Tim Below, hopes more Vietnamese air force, air defense, and naval officers will take similar English courses in the future. He also said some of the course graduates will be selected to take specific courses in the UK or in other English-speaking countries. The rest may take part in other activities in Vietnam, within the framework of UN peacekeeping operations.
