PANO - The Ministry of Defense (MoD) organized a ceremony to honor military Olympians who took part in the Olympic Rio 2016.

Addressing the ceremony on August 30 in Hanoi, Lieutenant General Tran Don, Deputy Minister of Defense, hailed and congratulated the athletes for their outstanding achievements in the games and gave a special congratulation to marksman Hoang Xuan Vinh, who won the historic gold medal in the men’s 10m air pistol event and one silver at the men’s 50m pistol shooting event.
In the games, apart from marksman Hoang Xuan Vinh, other Vietnamese military athletes were swimmer Nguyen Thi Anh Vien and Judo athlete Van Ngoc Tu.
In acknowledgement of their great achievements at the games, the State President presented the First-Class Labor Order to marksman Hoang Xuan Vinh, and the Minister of Defense presented certificates of merit to the two remaining athletes while the General Staff rewarded them in cash.
At the ceremony, General Don handed over the Minister of Defense’s certificate of merit to Judo athlete Van Ngoc Tu and a reward to marksman Hoang Xuan Vinh.
