At the meeting, the Commander of the coast guard region, Major General Dao Hong Nghiep, briefed the delegation on the unit’s task performance.
Report says, since the beginning of this year, the command has successfully accomplished all assigned missions, especially in preventing and fighting drug-trafficking, drug crime, and trade fraud.
The unit has also coordinated with local authorities in the provinces of Quang Tri, Quang Nam, Quang Ngai, and Binh Dinh to provide fishermen with knowledge of fishing-related regulations, and organized a conference to review two years of the implementation of the “Coast guards standing by fishermen" program in the 2017-2018 period in Ly Son island district.
Speaking at the event, Gen. Chiem acknowledged and highly praised the achievements obtained by troops of the Coast Guard Region 2 Command over the past years.
Gen. Chiem also asked the command to uphold the troops' political stance and determination in order to undertake and complete all assigned missions in the coming time.
The unit should proactively follow situations and propose approaches to higher levels in order to promptly deal with problems at sea, and effectively implement the resolutions, programs and plans of the Steering Committee for the implementation of the National Plans on Combat against Drug, Human Trafficking, Smuggling, Trade Fraud and Counterfeit and on Practice of Thrift and Anti-wastefulness (Steering Committee 1389) of the Ministry of National Defense, he stressed.
On the occasion, Gen. Chiem also visited and presented gifts to troops of ships CSB 9002 and CSB 8002.
