The event was chaired by Chief of the General Staff and Deputy Defense Minister Senior Lieutenant General Nguyen Tan Cuong and Minister of Education and Training Nguyen Kim Son. 

After hearing reports, delegates discussed and highly appreciated achievements obtained over the past time and proposed measures to raise the effectiveness of coordination in implementing education and training work in the military. They agreed to continue fostering coordination between schools inside and outside the military, building exam question banks, promoting digital transformation, sharing foreign language learning materials, and creating favorable conditions for military schools to participate in programs developed by the MOET.

Speaking at the conference, Minister of Education and Training Ministry Nguyen Kim Son thanked defense leaders for their coordination and support to the education sector over the past time, especially their support to military and defense education for high school and tertiary students. He also highlighted the border guard force’s efforts in teaching children in border areas, on islands, and in poor localities and the Military Industry-Telecoms Group (Viettel)’s building of a database system for education.

The MOET expected that military academies and schools will accompany the education sector to renew education and training work. He also hoped that the military will pioneer in renovating education and training, and military schools will share more experience in equipping life skills for students through training, military semester, and tradition education programs. The two ministries should further foster their coordination to make more contribution to the development of education and training cause.

Addressing the event, Senior Lieutenant General Nguyen Tan Cuong highlighted the effective support of agencies and ministries, especially the MOET. He emphasized that thanks to the support, education work in the military has obtained important results.

The deputy defense minister asked the MOET to foster comprehensive cooperation with the MND and create favorable conditions for the ministry to add more education program codes and establish a military education assessment center. He hoped that the ministry will give professionalism support to and provide materials for the MND to effectively reallize its foreign language project.

He asked units under the MND to work closely with relevant agencies of the MOET, actively raise the quality of military and defense education work, and well manage cadets who are studying abroad.

Military academies and schools should focus on raising the quality of education and training and develop measures to overcome shortcomings in building comprehensively strong schools.

At the event, Deputy Defense Minister Nguyen Tan Cuong and Minister of Education and Training Nguyen Kim Son signed a cooperation program for the 2022-2025 period.
