General Luong Cuong, Director of the General Department of Political Affairs (GDP); Senior Lieutenant General Nguyen Tan Cuong, Chief of the General Staff and Deputy Defense Minister; Lt. Gen. Trinh Van Quyet, GDP Deputy Director; Lt. Gen. Huynh Chien Thang, Deputy Chief of the General Staff; representatives of the N.A. Committee for National Defense and Security; military N.A. deputies of the 15th N.A.; and representatives for the MND’s authorized agencies attended the event.
At the meeting, a representative of the General Staff informed the participants about the regional and global situations with direct connection with the military and defense task performance. He also pointed out several outstanding results in implementing military and defense tasks over the past time and emphasized major missions in the coming time.
The Department of Legal Affairs under the MND reported on draft laws and ordinances written by the MND and scheduled to be submitted to the N.A. and N.A. Standing Committee for consideration and approval during the 15th N.A.’s tenure; and several draft laws related to military and defense to be submitted to the N.A. for consideration, discussion or approval at the third meeting of the 15th N.A.
According to the Department of Legal Affairs, the third session of the 15th N.A. is going to consider and approve the law and ordinance making program in 2023, an amendment to the program in 2022. Therefore, the aforementioned draft laws and ordinances related to military and defense are necessary. They have been made based on reality with thorough studies and preparation on contents by defense agencies and military units, ensuring quality, time, process and procedures on document promulgation, thus eligible for submission to the N.A. for consideration.
On hearing reports and opinions, General Giang asked military N.A. deputies to promote their stance, knowledge, well perform their duties and responsibilities, actively give opinions on debated contents, thus contributing to the overall success of the session.
Regarding military and defense contents, the defense chief requested the deputies to deeply study them and make use of practical experience to contribute worthy opinions.
General Giang also reminded them of strictly observing the N.A. working regulations.
For agencies in charge of drafting laws and ordinances, he asked them to provide full and timely information for military N.A. deputies to study as a foundation for their opinions at the meeting.
