The statement was made by Deputy Chief of the General Department of Politics Senior Lieutenant General Do Can at a reception for a delegation of national contributors from Binh Duong province on November 2 in Hanoi.

Speaking at the meeting, General Can congratulated the Party Committee, authorities, troops, and people of Binh Duong province on their achievements obtained over the past time, especially in carrying out policies for those who had rendered good service to the revolution in the past. He hoped that Binh Duong’s national contributors will continue upholding the tradition of their families and hometowns to make further contributions to local socio-economic development and setting bright examples for young generations to follow.
According to Deputy Director of the provincial Department of Labor, Invalids, and Social Affairs Nguyen Ngoc Hang, the province has over the past time paid due attention to carrying out policies for national contributors and policy beneficiaries to provide them with good material and spiritual life while contributing to ensuring political security and public order in the province.
Binh Duong province has more than 64,000 national contributors, including 16,700 fallen soldiers, more than 6,000 wounded and sick soldiers, and 2,212 heroic Vietnamese mothers (49 mothers are alive). At present, the province is spending more than VND 14.1 billion to provide monthly allowances to over 8,000 contributors. The province also spends around VND 2.6 billion on a monthly basis to assist national contributors in overcoming difficulties.

On the occasion, General Can briefed delegates on task performance of the whole military over the past time. Particularly, under the instruction of the Central Military Commission and Ministry of National Defense (MND), units in the whole military have strictly embraced the Party’s guidelines, closely followed situational developments to make timely recommendations concerning military and defense missions for the Party and State, and cooperated with other forces to deal with circumstances in a timely manner.
He added that troops in the whole military have actively and pro-actively been present in locations of difficulties to help local people mitigate natural disaster consequences and cope with diseases, contributing to maintaining political stability and creating a peaceful environment for national construction and development.
In addition, the Central Military Commission, the MND, and the General Department of Politics have actively and pro-actively advised the Party and State to issue various policies for troops and their families and effectively carried out gratitude activities. Since the beginning of this year, military agencies and units have built more than 570 houses, worth more than VND 35.6 billion, taken care of 1,853 heroic Vietnamese mothers, presented 40 saving books, provided free health check-ups and medicines to over 46,100 people, and allocated VND 10 billion to assist convalescent centers, friendship villages, and the Vietnam Association for Agent Orange/Dioxin victims to take care of wounded troops and those in need.
