Deputy Defense Minister, Senior Lieutenant General Tran Don, and Chairman of the Hanoi municipal People’s Committee Nguyen Duc Chung co-presided over the conference with the participation of leaders of the MND, the Hanoi Capital Military Command and local relevant agencies.
Discussing the outcomes of the collaboration between the two sides in implementing the local military and defense missions as well as other related tasks, delegates at the event highlighted the sound leadership of the Central Military Commission, the MND and the Hanoi municipal Party Committee and People’s Committee as well as the close cooperation between military units and local civilian agencies, and great support of local people.
Over the past years, local Party committees and authorities at all levels and armed forces have well perceived the important strategic position of Hanoi, and exerted every effort to overcome difficulties and successfully fulfilled the local military and defense missions.
The armed forces of Hanoi thoroughly grasped and effectively realized the Party’s viewpoint on building people’s armed forces, the Party policy on entire people defense, the Resolution of the 8th Meeting of the 11th Party Central Committee “Protecting the Fatherland in the new context,” and their regular assignments.
The local armed forces collaborated closely with local Party committees and authorities at all levels in comprehending the situation, fortifying the city as a firm defensive area, enhancing the State management of the city’s defense and security, harmoniously combining socio-economic development and defense and security, conducting defense education and training for various local subjects, and actively participating in natural disaster control and consequence relief as well as search and rescue missions.
In implementing the military and defense missions, Hanoi’s civilian leadership and military command also focused on improving the comprehensive quality of the local armed forces. As a result, local armed units regularly enriched their troops with political knowledge; renovated combat training contents in urban areas and at night; ensured sufficient logistics and techniques for all active-duty forces, reserve force, and militia and self-defense force to carry out training activities and combat readiness mission. At the same time, local armed units also well performed mass mobilization work as well as implemented policy toward troops and their families.
