Military Weapon Institute conferred with second-class Fatherland Protection Order
PANO - The Military Weapon Institute, under the General Department of Defense Industry (GDDI) celebrated its 70th founding anniversary and received the second-class Fatherland Protection Order on January 18 in Hanoi.

The event saw the attendance of Senior Lieutenant General Be Xuan Truong, Deputy Defense Minister; Lieutenant General Nguyen Duc Lam, Director of GDDI; Lieutenant General Khuat Viet Dung, Political Commissar of GDDI, and other leaders of the institute.
Speaking at the ceremony, Senior Colonel Bui Tuan Anh, Director of the institute, briefed the participants on 70-year history of building, fighting, and development of the institute.
The Technical Research Bureau (the predecessor of the institute) was formed with the task of producing weapons for troops. Officers and staff of the institute over the past time have overcome all hardships, promoted their self-study, and actively researched and innovated military weapons and equipment for troops and people, making important contributions to the national reunification.
Authorized by the State President, Senior Lieutenant General Be Xuan Truong pinned the second-class Fatherland Protection Order insignia on its “Determined to Win” flag.
Gen. Truong also hailed the institute’s achievements over the past 70 years and asked the unit to continue grasping thoroughly Resolution 06-NQ/TW of the Politburo on “Building and developing defense industry by 2020 and onward”, improving its capabilities in making weapons to meet the needs of upgrading and innovating military weapons and equipment of the armed forces.
