According to a report delivered at the meeting, during the year while maintaining political security and public order, the military region actively made recommendations to the Central Military Commission and Ministry of National Defense and cooperated with local leadership to deal with issues and situations in a timely manner. Military Region 2’s armed forces also mobilized personnel and vehicles to conduct natural disaster mitigation, search and rescue, and UXO clearance missions and strictly implemented COVID-19 pandemic prevention regulations. Military external relations and international cooperation were conducted effectively by the local armed forces.

Praising achievements obtained by Military Region 2’s armed forces over the past time, General San asked the armed forces to continue cooperating with other forces to ensure political security and public order, organize competitions and exercises as planned, and prepare forces and vehicles to respond to natural disasters and prevent the COVID-19 pandemic at all times.
On the same day, Deputy Defense Minister Vice Admiral Pham Hoai Nam led a mission to visit and inspect the task performance of the Border Guard Command.
Speaking at the meeting, Vice Admiral Pham Hoai Nam praised the Border Guard Party Committee and Command for leading border guard units to fulfill missions set for this year. Particularly, under the leadership of the Border Guard Party Committee and Command, units in the whole force have taken strict measures to prevent the COVID-19 pandemic and actively participated in natural disaster consequence mitigation. In addition, the force effectively completed training and combat readiness missions and firmly protected political security and public order in border areas.
Regarding its major missions in the coming time, Nam asked the Border Guard Command to promote political and ideological education for troops, so as to raise their awareness of undertaking dual missions of combat readiness training and border management and COVID-19 pandemic prevention.

At the working session of the Coast Guard Region 1 Command, Lieutenant General Nguyen Trong Binh, Deputy Chief of the General Staff, lauded its obtained achievements so far this year. He requested the unit to promote education to heighten its troops’ vigilance, strictly maintain combat readiness, and effectively protect security and safety in its designated waters.
The Coast Guard Region 1 Command should also pay attention to raising the quality of regulation building and discipline observance, strengthening solidarity among troops, augmenting the effectiveness of technical work, and effectively mastering and maintaining weapons and equipment, Binh added.
