PANO – Lieutenant General Tran Don, member of the Party Central Committee, permanent member of the Central Military Commission and Deputy Defense Minister, and a delegation of the Ministry of National Defense (MND) on November 10 inspected the implementation of the military-defense, finance, and capital construction investment missions at Military Region 9 and the capital construction work at Naval Region 5.

Commander of Military Region 9, Lieutenant General Nguyen Hoang Thuy briefed the delegation upon the region’s task performance. Accordingly, the military region has, over the past time, successfully and safely conducted exercises with contents close to reality. In addition, the unit has also strictly and effectively implemented its capital construction investment task pursuant to regulations and procedures.

As for Naval Region 5, over the past years the unit has invested in a good number of construction works in line with the set progress, quality and appearance requirements, including the construction of the campus of Treatment Unit 78, serving people and service-people on Phu Quoc Island with 70 beds.

General Don spoke highly of the efforts of Military Region 9 and Naval Region 5 made in implementing their tasks and also required the units to boost their education and ideological training for troops, effectively conduct military-defense missions, build healthy Party committees and comprehensively strong units, and maintain and strengthen military external affairs mission.

He noted that the units need to focus on completing their assigned political missions, raising vigilance and combat readiness while effectively conducting the mission of natural disaster prevention and consequence relief. He also required the two units to strictly carry out their capital construction investment plans, closely coordinate with localities, other forces and the Steering Committee for the Southwestern Region to get close hold of the situation for active and suitable responses.
