Military units brace for coming storm
PANO – The Standing Office of the National Steering Committee on Natural Disaster Prevention and Control, on August 11, held a meeting to take measures in response to Storm No.2 (Mulan) and its tropical depression’s consequences.
According to Senior Colonel Nguyen Dinh Hung, Chief of the Search and Rescue Division of the Department of Staff of the Vietnam Border Guard Command, currently, all trawlers and ships from Quang Ninh to Nam Dinh provinces have moved safely to shore.

The Quang Ninh provincial Border Guard Command, in coordination with relevant units, temporarily suspended permission to stay on islands in Ha Long Bay. So far, no damage has been recorded due to Storm No.2. Border troops will be on stand-by in response to flood consequences.
At the meeting, Senior Colonel Tran Dinh Sau from the Office of National Committee for Incident and Disaster Response and Search and Rescue noted that the Ministry of National Defense has directed military regions 1, 2, 3, and 4 to work with local authorities to track the storm’s developments and be ready in any circumstances.
