PANO – Regiment 930 under Division 372 of the Air Force and Air Defence, on August 21st, dispatched helicopter sorties to gain familiarity with the terrain and practice evacuating people from earthquake zones, as part of preparation for an earthquake response exercise which will be held late this month.
The sorties were conducted due to the complicated nature of the exercise, which is to take place in Bac Tra My district, Quang Nam province.
Accordingly, the regiment sent two Mi-8 helicopters to transport two medical teams and training equipment to evacuate people from the earthquake area.
As requested, the helicopters will conduct long range flights to the area in inclement weather and land on an uneven terrain while ensuring safety.
The crews managed to touch down on time at the designated zones to evacuate people successfully, in the training exercise.
