During the 2019-2024 period, Vietnam made significant achievements in the implementation of Decree No.81/2019/ND-CP. The Prime Minister issued many decisions to enforce the decree, as well as an action plan on anti-money laundering, combating terrorism financing, and countering WMD proliferation. The Ministry of National Defense, as the national coordinating agency, together with other ministries, sectors, and local authorities, disseminated information to raise public awareness and conducted training and drills to prevent proliferation risks.
In his remarks, Senior Lieutenant General Vo Minh Luong emphasized that awareness among individuals and organizations regarding WMD proliferation prevention has been raised, while refining legal frameworks and strengthening information exchange and cooperation with international organizations, non-governmental organizations, and the implementation of relevant United Nations Security Council resolutions have been boosted.
In the time to come, he asked the Chemical Corps to continue to coordinate with relevant units and agencies to finalize documentation for the Defense Ministry’s proposal to the government while continuing to implement Decree No.81/2019/ND-CP as planned, among others.
