General Staff’s leader works with units in Hai Phong city
PANO - Lieutenant General Ngo Minh Tien, Deputy Chief of the General Staff of the Vietnam People’s Army had various activities in Hai Phong city on November 26.
At Factory Z189, General Tien attended a keel-laying ceremony for ships for a militia flotilla organized by the General Department of Defense Industry.
These ships will be built by the factory in collaboration with six other units under the General Department of Defense Industry and the Naval Service.

The steel-hulled ships for the militia flotilla, with modern maritime equipment, and signal devices, are tasked to take search and rescue mission, ensure logistics, support fishermen fishing in open sea, and collect sea products.
Meanwhile, during his inspection at the Hai Phong Military Command, General Tien was briefed on the unit’s military-defense task performance since the beginning of this year. General Tien lauded the unit’s achievements and asked it to continue embracing the Party’s guidelines and the State’s policies on local military-defense missions.
The unit should strictly observe combat readiness regulations, and closely follow the developments of local situations, especially during festivals and the Lunar New Year holiday while closely teaming up with other relevant forces to defend national security, ensure social order and safety, and prevent crimes.
