In 2017, the leadership of the General Staff closely followed instructions and resolutions from higher levels, directed its affiliated units to comprehensively carry out assigned missions, maintained high combat readiness, and promptly coped with unexpected situations.
Of note, they provided timely advice to the Central Military Commission and the Ministry of National Defense to work out plans to reinforce defense-security, build all-people defense posture, and ensure security for major political events of the country.
In addition, the General Staff launched a wide range of military exercises, especially defensive area ones, and live-fire drills with good outcomes and absolute safety.
The organ was also active in implementing search and rescue missions and responding to natural disasters. As a result, many groups and individuals of the General Staff received awards from the Government and the Ministry of National Defense.
Speaking at the event, General Giang applauded the General Staff’s 2017 achievements and asked them to continue proactively directing relevant units to forecast all situations and well perform assigned tasks in the time to come. He also urged them to focus on building strong Party organizations and comprehensive strong units while raising troops’ spiritual and material life.
