Reportedly, the General Staff directed units in the whole military to complete all assigned missions, grasp all situations, maintain combat readiness, and effectively handle emerging situations. The agency ordered the whole-military units to adjust training plans in accordance with the developments of the COVID-19 pandemic, send forces to assist the COVID-19 prevention and control in Ho Chi Minh City, conduct search and rescues missions after the recent storms, support flood-hit people to help them stabilize their life soon.

Addressing the conference, General Cuong praised collectives and individuals with outstanding achievements in task performance over the past time. He urged the units’ Party committees and chains-of-command to enhance their comprehensive leadership in all aspects, firmly grasp troops’ ideology, strictly manage troop strength, weapons, and technical equipment, and ensure combat readiness.

Relevant units should promptly deal with unexpected situations, especially in the East Sea (South China Sea) and border areas, he added.

The defense official asked affiliated units to collaborate well with the police force to ensure security for major events of the country, prevent foreign ships from illegally entering Vietnam’s waters, and enhance patrol at sea and in border areas.

He underlined that the whole military should adjust training and working plans in accordance with the pandemic situations, complete the basic training schedules at all levels, and maintain combat readiness in any circumstances.
