At the ceremony, General Luong Cuong, GDP Chief, reviewed the 75-year history of the general department, stressing that the fact has confirmed the special and indispensable role of the Party and political work in the military. Therefore, the establishment and development of the GDP have always accompanied those of the heroic Vietnam People’s Army.
Over the past 75 years, under the leadership of the Party and President Ho Chi Minh, the GDP has closely followed the guideline of the revolution to actively give advice to the Party and the State on building a politically strong military, absolutely loyal to the Party, the Fatherland and the people. The general department has made great contributions to the feats-of-arms and achievements of the country in both wartime and peacetime and in the new period.
For its outstanding achievements, especially in the development of the military and the implementation of military and defense missions, the GDP has been awarded with various noble titles and orders of the Party and State, including the Golden Star Order.

Addressing the ceremony, Permanent Member of the Secretariat of the Party Central Committee Tran Quoc Vuong hailed the GDP for its achievements and strong development over the past 75 years. He reaffirmed that the development and victories made by the Vietnam People’s Army are partly attributed to the efforts of the GDP and generations of political officers in the whole military.

The official required that the GDP and political officers in the whole military should continue closely grasping the guidelines and resolutions of the Party, policies of the State, and military-defense strategies, and promoting the glorious traditions of the Vietnam People’s Army and the GDP. The GDP should actively direct units in the whole military in implementing the Party and political work, helping build a politically-strong people’s army, ready to fulfill any missions assigned by the Party, the State, and the people.
At the ceremony, Permanent Member of the Secretariat of the Party Central Committee Tran Quoc Vuong under the authority of the State President conferred the first-class Fatherland Protection Order on the GDP.
