Fallen naval troops commemorated at sea
PANO - The Naval Region 2 Command held a ceremony on January 7 at the DK1/15 platform to commemorate soldiers who laid down their lives while protecting the country's Southern continental shelf.
The ceremony took place on the deck of ship Truong Sa 19, which is carrying a mission of the Naval Region 2 Command to visit and present Tet gifts to troops stationed on the DK1 platforms and Con Dao island district, Ba Ria-Vung Tau province.
In his speech, Senior Colonel Huynh Vinh Tuyen, Deputy Commander of Naval Region 2, stressed that generations of naval troops, especially those from Battalion DK1 of Naval Region 2, have brought into full play the tradition of the heroic military of Vietnam. They have heightened the sense of responsibility for the Fatherland and for the cause of defending national sovereignty over the country’s national seas and islands.
Senior Colonel Tuyen held that many of troops in action bravely sacrificed their lives for the protection of the Fatherland, brightening the image of Uncle Ho’s soldiers and of naval soldiers in the current period.
In the solemn atmosphere, the delegates offered incense and flowers in tribute to the fallen naval soldiers.
