Deputy Defense Minister Senior Lieutenant General Hoang Xuan Chien speaks at the working session.

Delivering a report at the event, Senior Colonel Vu Thanh Van, DFR Director laid stress on the agency’s preparation for major defense diplomacy tasks and other defense diplomacy activities until the end of the year.

Other reports from relevant agencies focused on the preparation for the future deployment of an engineering company to a U.N. peacekeeping mission and for other exchanges of high-level delegations in the coming time.

In his concluding speech, General Chien highly valued the DFR and relevant agencies’ efforts to comprehensively, flexibly, creatively and effectively implement international integration and defense diplomacy affairs amid complicated developments of the COVID-19 pandemic. These have importantly contributed to the Party’s and the State’s diplomacy.

Citing the Prime Minister as saying that the fight against COVID-19 is still long and we must live with the pandemic for a long time, we can't absolutely control it and we must adapt and have suitable approaches, the deputy defense minister asked them not to let the pandemic hinder defense diplomacy-related activities. They should focus their direction on carrying out key and priority tasks and clarify possible difficulties to address them in a timely manner.

Preparation for the deployment of the aforementioned engineering company should be completed soon.

The DFR was also asked to review its performance in international integration and defense diplomacy, organize exchanges of delegations, especially high-level ones in a solemn manner, and work with other relevant bodies to accomplish their international integration and defense diplomacy missions.
