Defense ministry gathers retired senior officers
PANO – The Central Military Commission and the Ministry of National Defense held a meeting on December 12 for retired senior officers in the Northern region on the occasion of the 30th anniversary of the Whole People’s Defense Festive Day and the 75th founding anniversary of the Vietnam People’s Army (VPA).
The event was chaired by the Deputy Secretary of the Central Military Commission and Defense Minister General Ngo Xuan Lich with the attendance of former senior officers of the military and representatives from relevant agencies of the defense ministry.

Addressing the meeting, General Lich briefed delegates on regional and global situations, and results of the military and defense task performance over the past year. Accordingly, the Central Military Commission and the Ministry of National Defense provided timely advice for the Party and State on crucial issues related to military-defense missions. Units in the whole army have increasingly renewed training programs and exercises to meet the task requirements in the current context while actively promoting emulation drives among their troops.
Notably, the whole military has always showcased their key role in natural disasters’ prevention, search and rescue missions, and supported localities to build new-styled rural areas. The military’s Party committees were built firmly in terms of politics, ideology and organization. Troops have constantly trusted the leadership of the Communist Party of Vietnam and been willing to undertake and fulfill all assigned missions, he stressed.
The defense minister expressed his hope that the retired officers would continue encouraging and sharing experience with troops on duty and believing in the leadership of the Central Military Commission and the Ministry of National Defense. In addition, he affirmed that the whole-military troops will promote solidarity and unity to build a comprehensive strong army and strive to complete all tasks assigned by the Party, the State and the people.
Also, General Lich expressed his deep gratitude to retired senior officers and wished them and their families good health and happiness and hoped that theywould always promote the good virtues of Uncle Ho’s soldiers to be outstanding examples for the whole-military troops to follow.
