Defense Minister meets with troops of Brigade 144
PANO - Defense Minister General Phan Van Giang and Chief of the General Staff and Deputy Defense Minister General Nguyen Tan Cuong on January 8 met with troops of Brigade 144 under the General Staff who have completed their military service and are about to be discharged.

At the meeting in Hanoi, the defense chief acknowledged and highly praised the soldiers’ study and practice achievements during their military service. He spoke highly of their good performance of guarding role, ensuring absolute safety of headquarters Ministry of National Defense’s agencies, and other important missions, deserving to be a loyal guard force of the military.
Delighted at attainments gained by Brigade 144, General Phan Van Giang emphasized that the unit has always been an outstanding unit of the General Staff in studying, practicing, and building regularity, and observing military discipline. He highlighted the troops’ exemplary role in actions and words, high revolutionary vigilance, flexible and effective settlement of situations to avoid passivity.
Among the discharged soldiers this year, nearly 200 have received commendations. Attentively, many of them have been twice commended and 25 have become Party members.
Recalling the glorious traditions of the military, Minister Giang reminisced about the first days of his military life and hoped that the discharged soldiers when returning home would promote the noble qualities of Uncle Ho’s soldiers, set examples in observing the Party’s policies and the State’s laws, and actively study, practice, work and participate in patriotic movements to help make their homeland and family more prosperous and civilized.
