Defense Minister extends Tet greetings to troops
PANO – General Ngo Xuan Lich, Politburo member, Deputy Secretary of the Central Military Commission (CMC), and Minister of National Defense, led a delegation of the Ministry of National Defense (MND) visited and extended lunar New Year (Tet) greetings to troops in Bat Xat district (Lao Cai province) on December 31.
The delegation also included Lieutenant General Nguyen Tan Cuong, Deputy Chief of the General Staff of the Vietnam People's Army (VPA); Lieutenant General Le Hien Van, Deputy Director of the VPA’s General Department of Politics; and representatives from other relevant units of the ministry.

During the visit, General Lich and the delegation participated in a flag saluting ceremony and planted memorial trees at Lung Po flag pole where the Red River flows into Vietnam.
Visiting A Mu Sung Border Guard Station, on behalf of the CMC and MND, General Lich extended Tet greetings and presented Tet gifts to policy beneficiaries and needy households and scholarships to poor students with good academic records.
Additionally, he also granted gifts to Chinese border guard and public security units and people that twinned with border guard units and localities in Lao Cai province.
On this occasion, the Defense Minister handed over a gratitude house and 20 breeding cattle to needy households in Bat Xat district’s communes of A Mu Sung and Nam Chac.

The same day, General Lich visited Factory Z121 under the General Department of Defense Industry. Briefed on the unit’s task performance, the minister extended Tet greetings and presented gifts to the factory and its 40 needy workers.
The general wants the factory to continue upholding its achievements in 2019 and to overcome all difficulties to gain more success in 2020.
