Defense leader checks combat readiness of forces participating in Dien Bien Phu Victory celebration
PANO - Chief of the General Staff and Deputy Defense Minister Senior Lieutenant General Nguyen Tan Cuong led a delegation from the Ministry of National Defense (MND) to check the implementation of combat readiness and protection plans for the upcoming 70th anniversary of the Dien Bien Phu Victory on April 27 in Dien Bien Phu city, Dien Bien province.

Gen. Cuong checked garrison places, accommodation sites of forces participating the parade marking the 70th anniversary of the Dien Bien Phu Victory and heard a report on task performance of the MND Sub-committee for Parade. He highly appreciated the sub-committee’s great efforts, particularly Military Region 2’s Party Committee and Command for their close coordination with Dien Bien provincial Party Committee and authorities and good arrangement for forces participating in the upcoming parade.

The defense leader also applauded each participant of the Dien Bien Phu Victory celebration for their pro-activeness in overcoming difficulty, showing high determination to accomplish assigned missions.
To be well-prepared for the upcoming rehearsals before the official celebration, Gen. Cuong asked agencies, units, the sub-committee to strictly observe higher levels’ plans, directives and orders, review their missions according to real situations, closely coordinate with each other, and work with public security and border guard forces to grasp situations in the locality, border areas, hotspots to not be put in a negative position,

He also urged relevant agencies and units to intensify patrols, guards to ensure absolute safety at garrison sites and manage staffed weapons, equipment and vehicles, among others.
Earlier, the MND delegation offered flowers and incense in tribute to heroes and fallen troops at the Temple for Martyrs at Dien Bien Phu Battlefield and National War Cemetery A1 in Dien Bien Phu city.
