The Naval Service has actively forecasted and solved emerging theoretical and practical issues to serve the training and combat readiness missions, mastered new weapons and equipment while upgrading others, contributing to meeting the task requirements in the time to come.

Minister Huynh Thanh Dat suggested that the Naval Service in particular and the Ministry of National Defense in general should continue to promote scientific and technological research, apply new technical advances, especially in information technology, automation, and new materials, contributing to ensuring repair, upgrade, and modernization of weapons and technical equipment, acquiring and transferring defense production technologies to meet task requirements.

Speaking at the meeting, Senior Lieutenant General Pham Hoai Nam thanked the Ministry of Science and Technology for paying much attention to scientific research activities on military and national defense. In addition, he proposed that the two ministries should continue to cooperate in science and technology tasks in the coming time. The Ministry of Science and Technology should assist the Ministry of National Defense to develop military science projects in order to accelerate the military’s modernization; build scientific and technological potential, as well as expand scientific and technological cooperation at home and abroad; and develop the defense industry towards proactiveness, self-reliance, modernization and dual-use, becoming the spearhead of national industry.
