The request was made by Senior Lieutenant General Nguyen Trong Nghia, Deputy Director of the General Department of Politics at a meeting on May 2to review the preparations for this important event.

At the meeting, General Nghia, who is also head of the organizing panel praised agencies’ and units’ efforts and high sense of responsibility for the upcoming event. He also highlighted former Truong Son soldiers’ activities, which positively contributed to traditional education for younger generations.

According to reports delivered at the meeting, the Department of Information and Training of the General Department of Politics developed a plan on the celebration of the 60th anniversary of the Ho Chi Minh Trail and the Traditional Day of Truong Son Army Corps and cooperated with Army Corps 2 to hold a press conference to orient information services about the celebration. So far, more than 300 articles on the event have been published on the mass media and press, including the People’s Newspaper, the Vietnam Television, the Voice of Vietnam, the People’s Army Newspaper, the Army Radio-Television Center, and others.

Prior to the important event, Army Corps 12 launched an emulation drive and worked with the Vietnam Museum of Military History to host an exhibition, themed “The Legend of Truong Son” at the Ho Chi Minh Museum. Meanwhile, the Military Library is displaying documents, books, newspapers, and publications on the Ho Chi Minh Trail and Truong Son soldiers, while the Military Cinema made two documentaries, namely “The Legendary Trail” and “Truong Son-Ho Chi Minh Trail” and artists of the Military University of Literature and Arts are practicing for an artistic program. Another artistic program is scheduled to be co-held by the Army Youth Board, the Army Radio-Television Center, and Army Corps 12 in Tan Ky town, Nghe An province.

Highlighting the significance of the celebration of the 60th anniversary of the Ho Chi Minh Trail and the Traditional Day of Truong Son Army Corps, General Nghia urged relevant agencies and units to continue the preparation. Nghia said that this is an opportunity for today’s generation of Vietnamese people to recall the glorious past and pay homage to the Truong Son soldiers who had sacrificed their lives for the opening of the legendary road to contribute to the liberation of the South and national reunification.

Recently, the State President signed a decision to present a first-class “Fatherland Protection” Order to Army Corps 12 in acknowledgement of its efforts over the past time.
