Non-commissioned Major Dang Thi Thanh Thuy, on behalf of the female officers, delivers remarks upon receiving the assignment. |
According to reports delivered at the event, chaired by Major General Vu Trung Kien, Deputy Commander for Legal Affairs of the Vietnam Coast Guard, by February 2025, Vietnam had deployed nearly 1,100 officers and staff to U.N. peacekeeping missions in Central Africa, South Sudan, Abyei, and U.N. Headquarters, including 154 female officers. For the Vietnam Coast Guard, this is the first time female officers have been assigned to a U.N. peacekeeping engineering unit, following specialized training at the Vietnam Department of Peacekeeping Operations.
In his remarks, General Kien stressed that the participation of these female officers marks an important milestone, opening a new path and contributing to the development of a stronger, more diverse, and comprehensive corps of female coast guard officers in peacekeeping activities. This, he noted, reaffirms the Vietnam Coast Guard’s readiness to undertake complex international missions, ranging from ensuring maritime security and safety to contributing to global peace and stability.

Their mission, he added, will help strengthen the reputation and credibility of the Vietnam Coast Guard and the Vietnam People’s Army in the eyes of international friends.
