VPN contingent departs for Army Games 2021
PANO – The Vietnam People’s Navy (VPN) on July 12 organized a see-off ceremony, chaired by its Deputy Chief Rear Admiral Phan Tuan Hung, for its contingent taking part in a fleet review in celebration of the 325th anniversary of the Russian Navy and the International Army Games 2021 (Army Games 2021).
This year, the VPN sent two warships, Ships 015-Tran Hung Dao and 016-Quang Trung, to compete in the "Sea Cup" category. Therefore, the contingent has built a training plan and is determined to overcome difficulties to gain the best results. Presently, they are all ready for the competition.
Addressing the event, Real Admiral Phan Tuan Hung hailed the great efforts of relevant units and Naval Region 4 in general, and athletes of the two warships in particular, highlighting that this is the first time the VPN has joined the Army Games.

The event holds a practical meaning, showing the responsibility of the Vietnam People’s Army and the VPN in defense relations activities.
Meanwhile, this is also an occasion for the Vietnamese naval troops to exchange and gain more experience to raise training quality and combat readiness. In particular, the participation of the VPN has contributed to affirming the status of the VPN as well as bringing images of Vietnam and the Vietnamese people to the international arena.
After the ceremony, the Naval Region 4 Command launched an emulation movement drive for the troops who will join the upcoming fleet review and the Army Games 2021.
As scheduled, on July 13, Ships 015-Tran Hung Dao and 016-Quang Trung left Cam Ranh Port for Russia to perform their assigned missions.
