The Lao delegation was co-headed by Colonel Khampan Phommanyvong, Director of Sekong Police Department, and Colonel Ekalatthemsombat, Deputy Director of Salavan Police Department.

At the event, the two sides highly praised their coordination in managing and protecting the border since January 2023. In particular, they have ensured political security, social order and safety on both sides of the shared border, effectively implemented the agreement on management regulations on Vietnam - Laos land border gates and land borders, creating favorable conditions for local socio-economic development.

Moreover, the two sides have promoted solidarity, special friendship between the authorities, armed forces, and people of their provinces.

In addition, the Vietnamese side has continued its program entitled “Supporting children to go to school” in which a support of VND 500,000 per month is given to six students of three Lao villages, and presented 12 gifts, worth VND 1 million each, to needy Lao households and students as part of the program “Border spring warms up villagers’ heart.”

Also at the talks, the two sides agreed on the coordination orientations in the time ahead with a focus on pro-actively advising all-level authorities to develop socio-economy in border areas, boosting dissemination to raise awareness of border people of the aforementioned agreement to help build a borderline of peace, stability, and development. They will also coordinate to prevent illegal border crossing, fight against hostile and reactionary forces’ plots and tricks and extremists in ethnicity and religion.

Both sides reached agreement on hosting such talks once a year in the rotation form.
