Vietnamese Defense Minister’s activities in Moscow
PANO - Vietnamese Minister of National Defense Ngo Xuan Lich paid a courtesy call to Russian Deputy Prime Minister Olegovich Rogozin during his visit to Russia to attend the seventh Moscow Conference on International Security.
The Vietnamese defense minister affirmed that Vietnam considers bilateral defense and military technical cooperation an important pillar in the Vietnam-Russia Comprehensive Strategic Partnership.

The minister thanked the Russian Government and Ministry of Defense for granting scholarships for staff of the Vietnamese Ministry of National Defense over the years. He suggested that the two sides would continue promoting bilateral defense and military technical cooperation, contributing to the Vietnam-Russia Comprehensive Strategic Partnership.
Russian Deputy Prime Minister Olegovich Rogozin shared the same view with the Vietnamese guest’s recommendations and confirmed that Russia would increase and broaden military technical cooperation with Vietnam in line with the demands and interests of each country.
On the sidelines of the seventh Moscow Conference on International Security, Minister Ngo Xuan Lich also had a bilateral meeting with Second Minister for the Singaporean Ministry of Defense Ong Ye Kung.
The Vietnamese Minister confirmed that Vietnam always attaches importance to promoting cooperation with ASEAN member states, including Singapore and supports Singapore to successfully chair the ASEAN in 2018.
He held that the defense cooperation between Vietnam and Singapore has seen positive developments and thanked the Singaporean side for providing scholarships to Vietnam, especially in English language training.
He strongly believed that the cooperation between the two sides would continue to develop actively, in line with interests and strengths of each country.
Second Minister for the Singaporean Ministry of Defense Ong Ye Kung highly evaluated Vietnam’s role and status in the region. He thanked Vietnam for its active support during the year when Singapore chairs the ASEAN, contributing to helping Singapore successfully host the recent ASEAN defense-military meetings.
