The ceremony was attended by Major General Tran Van Tho, Commander of Coast Guard Region 1, leaders from the coast guard region and its affiliated units, as well as representatives from Hai Phong municipal Border Guard Command, Public Security, and Department of Foreign Affairs.
The purpose of this trip is to strengthen the friendship, mutual understanding, and trust between the Vietnam Coast Guard and the Japan Coast Guard. It also aims to promote exchanges, cooperation, and development between the two forces.
Under the leadership of Senior Colonel Le Thanh Hai, Second-in-Command of Coast Guard Region 1, Ship 8004 will visit Japan and engage in various activities, including courtesy calls on local authorities and the leadership of the Japan Coast Guard, sharing operational experience with Japan Coast Guard's Region 5, participating in joint search and rescue and fire prevention and control exercises, visiting cultural sites in Japan, and organizing joint receptions for both forces.
Speaking at the ceremony, Major General Tran Van Tho emphasized the significance of this diplomatic mission, which is part of a series of activities commemorating the 50th anniversary of diplomatic relations between Vietnam and Japan (September 21, 1973 - 2023) and celebrating the 25th anniversaries of the establishment of the Vietnam Coast Guard and the Coast Guard Region 1 Command.
Additionally, the visit aims to enhance commanding skills and the ability to manage weapons and equipment during long-term maritime operations. It will contribute to the accumulation of experience in organizing and participating in external defense activities for the Vietnam Coast Guard. The success of this mission will further affirm the strength, role, and position of the Vietnam Coast Guard in the region and the world.
