In recent years, the two sides have maintained regular meetings, exchanges, and information sharing related to border management and protection and security and order maintenance along the border. They have closely coordinated in effectively implementing three legal documents on the Vietnam–China land border, the border cooperation agreement between the two ministries of national defense, and meeting minutes between Vietnam’s Quang Ninh and China’s Guangxi’s border guards.

The two units have also maintained regular visits and exchanges on major holidays and traditional days of the two militaries, contributing to strengthening friendship and mutual understanding.

They have regularly conducted joint patrols, helping both sides directly coordinate in managing and protecting the border, inspecting boundary lines and markers, and promptly detecting, preventing, and handling violations of the Vietnam-China land border regulations agreement.

Both sides have maintained quarterly meeting mechanisms and exchanged information via hotline communications 14 times, along with 14 official letters. This has helped promptly detect, prevent, and effectively handle border-related incidents.

The two sides have actively coordinated in combating crime and illegal activities in border areas, including smuggling, illegal cross-border transportation of goods, and illegal entry and exit. They have also promoted dissemination to raise public awareness of law observance, among others.
