Vietnamese and Philippine navies hold 10th bilateral consultation session
PANO - On October 2, in Hai Phong city, Rear Admiral Nguyen Viet Khanh, Deputy Chief-of-Staff of the Vietnam People's Navy, and Rear Admiral Jose Ma Ambrosio Q. Ezpeleta, Vice Commander and Chief of Staff of the Philippine Navy, co-chaired the 10th bilateral consultation session between the two navies.

During the session, both sides discussed maritime security in the East Sea (also known as South China Sea) and surrounding waters, reviewed activities since August 2023, and explored future cooperation. The two navies have successfully implemented various initiatives, enhancing mutual trust and understanding, and strengthening their friendship.

The navies have closely coordinated in addressing emerging issues at sea, following international principles and each nation's laws to ensure that the East Sea remains peaceful, cooperative, and developing waters.
Moving forward, both sides will continue to enhance their cooperation based on signed agreements. Key areas include maintaining exchanges of high-level delegations, dialogue and consultation mechanisms, and cooperating in humanitarian assistance, disaster relief, search and rescue operations for fishermen at sea. Both navies will also strengthen training, education, and sharing of expertise in fields of mutual concern.

On the same day, the delegation paid a courtesy call on the leadership of the Vietnam People's Navy. Senior Captain Nguyen Van Bach, Deputy Commander and Chief-of-Staff of the Vietnam People's Navy, hosted the reception. He praised the success of the consultation session and expressed his hope that the agreements reached during the consultation would be implemented effectively, particularly as the two nations mark the 10th anniversary of their strategic partnership in 2025. He emphasized that the cooperation would contribute to maintaining peace, stability, and prosperity in the region and the world.
