An overview of the 11th annual talks

In the spirit of solidarity, special friendship, and mutual understanding and respect, the two sides exchanged views on situations in border areas and at border gates; reviewed the coordination in combating crimes over the past time.

Mentioning the possible complicated political security and public order situation in Northwestern provinces, the two sides agreed to continue to cooperate and seriously carry out contents in the two legal documents on Vietnam - Laos land border, signed by the two governments; fully implement cooperation contents between the Lao Security Ministry’s Security and Police Departments and the Vietnam Border Guard Command; closely work together to ensure political security and public order in border areas; manage people and vehicles travelling through border gates and paths and facilitate activities in border areas.

In addition, the two sides will give recommendations to local party committees and authorities at all levels to foster information dissemination to encourage local people to promote activities through border gates; strengthen information exchange; cooperate with each other to combat hostile forces’ activities, drug and weaponry trafficking, high-tech crime, and illegal border crossing, among others.
