Vietnamese and Chinese units conduct bilateral patrol
PANO - On March 20, at Border Marker No.3 along the Vietnam - China border, delegations from Vietnam’s Dien Bien Provincial Border Guard Command and China’s Mengzi Border Guard jointly kicked of bilateral border patrol activities in 2026.

At the ceremony, both sides emphasized that their annual bilateral patrols reflect close coordination and serve as a highlight of border diplomacy, contributing to a border of peace, friendship, cooperation and development.
Following the launch, forces from A Pa Chai Border Post of the Dien Bien Provincial Border Guard Command and the Jinping Meeting Point conducted a patrol from Marker No.3 to the Vietnam–China–Laos tri-border marker. The patrol combined foot and vehicle operations under “point-to-point,” “line-to-line,” and “side-to-side” methods to ensure strict control of the managed border sections.

During the patrol, both sides cleared vegetation along routes, cleaned areas around border markers, and exchanged timely information on border security. Inspections confirmed that the boundary line and markers remained intact, with no violations detected and overall stability maintained.

The patrol concluded with repainting the tri-border marker and a review meeting. Both sides agreed to maintain effective hotline communication, enhance coordination in border management, and strengthen joint efforts to combat illegal entry, smuggling, human trafficking, and other crimes, reaffirming their commitment to safeguarding sovereignty and ensuring stability for border communities.
