Vietnamese and Chinese coast guards conduct SAR training

In the simulated scenario, a cargo ship collided with a fishing vessel, causing two fishermen to fall overboard.

Upon receiving a distress signal, both sides immediately dispatched forces along with speedboats to search for the victims. After rescuing the distressed fishermen and bringing them on board the Vietnamese ship, military medics quickly performed first aid techniques such as chest compressions and mouth-to-mouth resuscitation. Once the victims regained consciousness, they were immediately carried down the ship for further medical care.

“SAR at sea is a new component of this joint patrol in the waters adjacent to the Gulf of Tonkin delimitation line, aiming to enhance the capabilities of both sides in handling maritime situations,” emphasized Senior Colonel Luong Cao Khai, Second-in-Command and Chief of the Staff of the Coast Guard Region 1 Command, and Head of the Vietnam side’s joint patrol force.

Below are several photos of the SAR training session conducted by the Vietnam Coast Guard and China Coast Guard during the first joint patrol mission in the waters adjacent to the Gulf of Tonkin delimitation line.

Senior Colonel Luong Cao Khai, along with officers from the Coast Guard Region 1 Command, Flotilla 11, and Captain of Ship 8004, directly instructs the rescue team to search for the victims at sea.

Lieutenant Colonel Ngo The Trung, Deputy Commander and Chief of Staff of Flotilla 11 (Coast Guard Region 1), monitors the situation through the radio.

Three red targets are shot, signaling the start of the exercise.

Following the Commander’s order, a boat is launched, and forces are deployed to rescue the victims.

Vietnamese ship 8004’s speedboat and the rescue team quickly move to the victims’ location.

After successfully rescuing the victim, the rescue team returns to ship 8004.

The victim is brought aboard the ship for medical care.

Military medics perform first aid measures, such as chest compressions and mouth-to-mouth resuscitation on the victim.

After first aid, the victim regains consciousness, and the medics transfer him to the ship for further medical attention.
