The Vietnamese defense leader emphasized that over the past five decades, under the sound leadership of the Lao People’s Revolutionary Party, the Lao People’s Army and people have united to overcome numerous challenges, achieving significant accomplishments in national construction and defense, contributing actively to peace, stability, cooperation, and development in the region and the world.
He expressed confidence that Laos would continue to achieve new successes in its renewal process, building a peaceful, independent, democratic, united, and prosperous nation on the socialist path.
Gen. Thang noted that the relevant agencies of both sides have closely coordinated in organizing major events of the two countries in 2025. He affirmed that Vietnam’s MND fully supports and will accompany its Lao counterpart in preparing for the commemoration of the 50th National Day of Laos.
Regarding bilateral defense ties in 2025, the Vietnamese general assessed that it has been carried out comprehensively, deeply, and substantively. He hoped that Lao Ambassador to Vietnam Khamphao Ernthavanh will continue to support and closely coordinate to facilitate effective implementation of bilateral defense cooperation activities.

For her part, Ambassador Khamphao Ernthavanh thanked the Vietnamese MND delegation for joining the embassy in celebrating this significant anniversary. She reaffirmed the special, unique solidarity between the two countries and emphasized that the Lao Party, State, Government, military, and people always appreciate the support of Vietnamese counterparts in the past struggle for national independence and in today’s cause of national construction, defense and development.
The Lao diplomat expressed gratitude to the Vietnamese Party, State, Government and military for their support in preparing Laos’ 50th National Day anniversary. She voiced her delight at the increasingly strong and comprehensive development of Laos - Vietnam relations, including defense cooperation. She believed that the Vietnam People’s Army will continue to earn the trust of the Party, State, and people in the defense and development cause.
