Gen. Chien highly appreciated the two groups’ leading global positions in the fields of aerospace, military helicopters, and defense industry. Expressing gratitude to the leadership of Airbus and Boeing for the information shared during the working visit at the Singapore Airshow 2026, he proposed specific measures to promote cooperation in technology transfer, human resource training, and technical support for Vietnam. He also suggested Airbus and Boeing study opportunities for cooperation with Vietnamese defense industry enterprises in areas that both sides have strengths and needs, such as technical materials, precision engineering, military shipbuilding, and information technology and telecommunications solutions.

Gen. Chien invited Airbus and Boeing to exhibit and introduce their products at the Vietnam Defense Expo 2026, scheduled in December this year in Hanoi.

Leaders of Airbus and Boeing stated that the Vietnam Defense Expo is an opportunity for the two groups to introduce products and to seek, expand, and promote cooperation with Vietnamese defense agencies and enterprises. They expressed their wish to expand cooperation with Vietnamese defense enterprises in areas with great potential and strategic significance in the coming time.

On the same day, Gen. Chien witnessed the announcement of an agreement on the order of Pratt & Whitney engines for 44 Airbus A320neo aircraft of Vietjet Air.

Within the framework of the exhibition, Deputy Director of the General Department of Defense Industry of Vietnam Major General Phan Thi Hoai Van held a bilateral meeting with Brigadier General Yew Chee Leung, Deputy Secretary in charge of Technology of the Ministry of Defense of Singapore.

At the meeting, both sides emphasized the positive and favorable development of bilateral defense ties with defense industry cooperation being one of the priority areas.

Gen. Van said that the General Department of Defense Industry of Vietnam would welcome Singaporean enterprises to visit Vietnam to exchange views and explore cooperation opportunities, and welcome leaders of the Ministry of Defense and defense enterprises of Singapore to participate in the third Vietnam Defense Expo, expected to take place at the end of this year.

For his part, the Singaporean general expressed his hope that the two sides would actively exchange and coordinate in the time ahead, aiming toward substantive, sustainable projects with depth in technology and economic efficiency.

Also at the Singapore Airshow 2026, representatives of the Air Defense - Air Force Service, the Navy, and the Military Industry-Telecoms Group (Viettel) of Vietnam held bilateral meetings with representatives of defense ministries and enterprises from various countries, thereby seeking cooperation opportunities in areas aligned with the strengths and needs of each side.
