The talks between Vietnam and Poland's Ministries of National Defence |
Earlier the same day, General Thanh chaired a solemn reception to the Polish counterpart, who is leading a high-ranking delegation from the Polish Ministry of National Defence to visit Vietnam.
At the talks, General Thanh welcomed the official visit of the delegation which is to boost the bilateral defence ties as well as promote traditional friendship and multifaceted cooperation between the two armies and people.
The two sides reviewed the outcome of the defence cooperation, especially since the official visit to Poland by General Phung Quang Thanh last August and under the memorandum of understanding on bilateral defence cooperation that the two ministries signed in 2010.
They also discussed and agreed on contents and measures to enhance the defence ties in the time to come for peace, stability and development in the region and the rest of the world. Accordingly, more exchanges of defence delegations at all levels would be held together with the early launch of the Polish Government’s preferential credit package for Vietnam and sharing experience on the participation in UN peacekeeping forces with the Vietnam People’s Army.
The two defence ministers also discussed issues of common concerns in the region and the world.
Polish Defence Minister Tomasz Siemoniak expressed his pleasure that Vietnam would send a defence attaché to work in Poland in the time to come. He also believed that this visit to Vietnam would help consolidate the long-lasting friendship between the two countries in general and the two armies in particular.
The Polish guests laid a wreath at the Monument for Heroes and Martyrs in Hanoi, paid homage to President Ho Chi Minh at his mausoleum, visited Division 308, the Navy High Command, and Hong Ha Shipbuilding Factory under the General Department of Defence Industry.
