At the meeting, General Lich welcomed Mr. Udi Adam and the Israeli defense delegation to visit Vietnam and participate in the first Vietnam-Israel defense policy dialogue. He expressed his belief that the results of the first Vietnam-Israel defense policy dialogue would contribute to mutual understanding and trust, as well as opened more opportunities for defense cooperation between the two sides in new fields.

The host also affirmed that the leadership of the Vietnamese Ministry of National Defense will further create favorable conditions for defense agencies and military units of the two countries to implement the signed agreements and propose initiatives and new contents of cooperation in the defense sphere.

Earlier on the day, the first Vietnam-Israel defense policy dialogue took place at the headquarters of the Vietnamese Ministry of National Defense. The event was co-chaired by Senior Lieutenant General Nguyen Chi Vinh, permanent member of the Central Military Commission and Deputy Defense Minister, and Mr. Udi Adam, Director-General of the Defense Ministry.

After exchanging views on the current situations of the region and world and international issues of mutual concern, the two sides reviewed the outcomes of the bilateral defense cooperation in the past time and agreed on the orientations for the bilateral defense cooperation in the coming time for the purpose of more comprehensive, practical and effective cooperation.

The two head delegates expressed pleasure at fine developments in the relations between Vietnam and Israel in recent years as well as fruitful outcomes of the bilateral defense cooperation.

The organization of the first Vietnam-Israel defense policy dialogue has demonstrated the two sides’ efforts to realize commitments of leaders of the two countries and militaries. Via such an event, the two sides would promote solidarity, friendship, contributing positively to the development of the Vietnam-Israel relationship as well as to peace, stability and development of the region and world.

During the dialogue, the two sides agreed on exchanges of delegations at all levels with a focus on high-level delegation exchange, the continuation of the defense policy dialogue mechanism. The two sides also agreed to improve the effectiveness of the joint working group of the two defense ministries in implementing contents and cooperation agreements; to promote personnel training cooperation with a view to serving as a bridge connecting the two countries and two militaries; to further expand cooperation between military services, arms and units of the two sides as well as bilateral cooperation in overcoming the aftermath of war, cyber security and defense industry.
