The large-scale event is being held from December 19 to 22 on the occasion of the 80th founding anniversary of the Vietnam People’s Army (December 22, 1944 - 2024) and the 35 years of the Whole-People Defense Festive Day (December 22, 1989 - 2024). It is expected to welcome more international delegations, high-ranking defense officers, and defense industry enterprises compared to the first event in 2022. Liaison officers and interpreters - the important “connectors” - play critical role in the success of such an international event.

During the training session

Since the beginning of the year, troops from the Ministry of National Defense’s affiliated units, and military academies and schools have been selected to serve as liaison officers and interpreters during the expo. They all show their language proficiency, good communication skills, and the ability to handle situations flexibly, ensuring smooth operations for international delegations.

As companions for international guests, liaison officers and interpreters assist them throughout their participation in the expo. Like other forces supporting the event, they have undergone training sessions to grasp necessary information about the expo, security and safety protocols, and reception procedures. In addition to theoretical training, they have participated in practical exercises at Noi Bai International Airport, among others.

As one of the liaison officers and interpreters during this year’s expo, Senior Captain Dang Minh Vuong from the Military Hospital 103 under the Military Medical Academy proudly shared: “Assisting international delegations at the expo is both my honor and a heavy responsibility. Therefore, we have to make thorough preparations to fulfill our duties effectively.”

According to Captain Dang Minh Vuong, each individual must be flexible to ensure thoughtful and respectful reception of international guests.

Meanwhile, Captain Nguyen Khanh from the Air Defense-Air Force Academy held that this is the second time he has been assigned as a liaison officer and interpreter for the expo. He expressed his excitement and pride in contributing to such an important event, not only for the military but also for the nation.

Learning from his experience at the 2022 expo, Khanh emphasized that coordination among the functional forces is important, helping them successfully serve international guests. The training program, which combines theory and practical exercises, has provided an opportunity for liaison officers and interpreters to enhance their coordination abilities and situational handling skills while supporting international visitors at the expo.

The liaison officers and interpreters, equipped with thorough knowledge and skills, are ready to serve at the expo. Everyone is determined to try their best to fulfill their assigned tasks, contributing to introducing and promoting the image of the friendly and hospitable Vietnam and the heroic Vietnam People’s Army to international friends.
