Vietnam, France to boost defense cooperation
PANO – Defense Minister Senior Lieutenant General Phan Van Giang on May 24 received French Ambassador to Vietnam Nicolas Warnery at the headquarters of the Ministry of National Defense.
During the reception, General Giang affirmed that the bilateral ties between Vietnam and France have witnessed many positive developments, including the bilateral strategic partnership. In that framework, the bilateral defense cooperation has been promoted and developed. On the basis of the signed agreements, the two sides have focused on delegation exchange, training and education, military medicine, hydrography, and UN peacekeeping operations.
General Giang hailed the cooperation between the two sides at multilateral forums and France’s stance towards the region, expressing hope that the two sides would continue to closely and effectively work together, contributing to regional and international peace and stability.
For his part, Ambassador Warnery affirmed that in the new position, Minister Giang would make important contributions to the development of the relations and cooperation between the two countries and the two militaries.
The two sides also agreed to maintain exchanges at all levels in suitable forms and promote cooperation in various fields. They will also coordinate in organizing activities in celebration of the 30th founding anniversary of the Vietnam-France defense cooperation.
