* During the conversation with Turkish Deputy Defense Minister Musa Heybet, the two sides agreed to strengthen cooperation in delegation exchanges, training, search and rescue, war legacy settlement, defense industry, United Nations peacekeeping operations, cooperation among arms and services, cyber-security, and responses to non-traditional security challenges. Vietnam also expressed its readiness to receive Turkish officers for Vietnamese-language training and international defense officials’ courses in Vietnam.
On the occasion, General Thang invited leaders of Türkiye’s Ministry of National Defense and Turkish defense companies to attend and display products at the third Vietnam Defense Expo, slated for December 10-13 at Gia Lam Airport in Hanoi.

Musa Heybet said that Türkiye’s Ministry of National Defense would send a delegation to the event, along with leading Turkish defense industry enterprises participating in the exhibition.
* At a separate meeting with Azerbaijani Deputy Minister of Defense Agil Gurbanov, Sr. Lt. Gen. Nguyen Truong Thang proposed that the two countries expand delegation exchanges, promote training cooperation, and facilitate collaboration between defense enterprises in defense industry, military trade, and logistics-technical support. He also suggested exploring additional areas of cooperation based on mutual demand and potential.
Vietnam’s Ministry of National Defense is prepared to welcome Azerbaijani military personnel to study Vietnamese and attend international defense officials’ courses in Vietnam, he said.

The Vietnamese defense leader also conveyed an invitation from General Phan Van Giang, Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of National Defense, inviting Azerbaijan’s Minister of Defense to the third Vietnam Defense Expo in December 2026.
Azerbaijani Deputy Minister of Defense Agil Gurbanov noted that the potential for defense cooperation between the two countries remains significant, especially since the signing of the Memorandum of Understanding on Defense Cooperation between the two ministries. He expressed his hope that both sides would actively enhance cooperation in training and defense industry, while promoting the establishment of a working-level expert group mechanism between the two defense ministries to effectively implement cooperation contents and explore other potential areas of collaboration.

The Azerbaijani Deputy Defense Minister also respectfully invited leaders of Vietnam’s Ministry of National Defense to attend the International Defense Exhibition 2026 in Azerbaijan and expressed his hope to welcome Sr. Lt. Gen. Nguyen Truong Thang to Azerbaijan for an official visit and working trip at the soonest time.
