The host held that the bilateral defense ties are increasingly enhanced over the past time. Basing on the results of the Vietnam visit of Chairman of the EU Military Committee, General Mikhail Kostarakos, in December 2017, the two sides agreed to continue boosting defense cooperation in the time to come. Particularly, they agreed that Ambassador and Head of the Mission of the European Union to Vietnam will be EU defense representative in the country while Vietnamese Ambassador in Belgium and Europe will be Vietnam’s representative to accelerate defense cooperation. He stressed that Vietnam supported the EU to further their presence within the ADMM+ (ASEAN Defense Ministers' Meeting Plus) via a consensus of all member countries.
The two officials also agreed to enhance delegation exchange, training cooperation and experience sharing in the field of mutual concern, such as UN peacekeeping operations, humanitarian and disaster relief, as well as war aftermath remedies.
