During the reception, Nhan extended new-year greetings to the ambassadors and highlighted the city's socio-economic development, the potentials of HCM City in attracting foreign investment last year as well as the favorable policies in economic development which were approved by the Vietnamese Government.

Besides, he also highly appreciated the Vietnam-EU relations, especially the importance of the Europe Union for economic development of Vietnam in general and of the city in particular. Nan hoped that EU and Vietnam would strengthen comprehensive cooperation, thus creating conditions for the development of HCM City in the coming time.

For their parts, the ambassadors praised the meaningful reception and the working session with the city’s leader and affirmed to continue supporting the development targets of Vietnam in general and of the city in particular.

They pointed out a number of issues related to the cooperation between the two sides such as developing smart city, waste treatment, climate change, education and cultural exchange.

The host welcomed comments and questions from ambassadors during the event and said that the city has a lot of potentials for economic development while the EU-Vietnam Free Trade Agreement will take effect in the coming time.
